Operations and Maintenance Manager

The Operations and Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Head of EPC

Their main responsibilities include

• Oversee the entire operations and maintenance portfolio, ensuring all solar PV sites are operating at peak efficiency and within regulatory compliance.
• Direct and develop a sub-department dedicated to solar PV O&M, including hiring, training, and managing O&M technicians and support staff, with plans to expand the team as needed.
• Adopt and integrate advanced monitoring technologies to continuously track the performance and health of solar PV projects, ensuring the technology is effectively utilized to detect, diagnose, and respond to system issues promptly.
• Establish protocols and lead reactive maintenance to outages, malfunctions, or other emergencies, ensuring rapid and effective resolution to minimize downtime and financial impact.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee regular preventative maintenance activities across all sites to maintain optimal operation and extend the lifespan of solar installations.
• Regularly analyze system performance data to identify trends, potential improvements, and areas of concern that require attention or adjustment.
• Manage the O&M budget, ensuring cost-effective operations, including forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting on financial performance related to maintenance operations.
• Ensure all maintenance operations comply with local regulations and client requirements, and keep up to date with changes in regulations that may affect operational procedures.
• Liaise with project management and engineering departments, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities, share information, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Continuously seek improvements in O&M processes and technologies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve system reliability.
• Provide support and feedback to project management and engineering departments to help improve system designs and installations.

In addition to the above, the Operations and Maintenance Manager is expected to coordinate and work effectively with other members of the team, and to assist with furthering the goals of the company in general, even where this may involve work that is not strictly related to their day-to-day responsibilities.

Potential candidates should have

• At least 4 – 6 years of solar PV O&M experience at the C&I scale, ideally including some hybrid / ESS systems
• At least 8 years of experience in relevant industries
• Degree level qualification in electrical / power systems engineering
• Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering to high standards
• Expert knowledge of core software packages VCOM or other SCADA systems
• Good existing knowledge of industry best-practice and international standards
• Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken)
• A growth mindset, with a willingness to learn and master new and unfamiliar technical matters quickly
• Long-term commitment to being a part of a growing business

In addition, the following attributes would be an advantage

• Experience working on utility-scale solar PV projects
• Experience working on non-solar LV electrical systems, MV electrical systems or communication and control / SCADA systems
• Knowledge of other relevant software packages (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Rated Power, PLC programming platforms etc.)
• Relevant specialized training
• Good understanding of the economics of PV projects
• Arabic language skills
